Dr Heinke Kunst

Dr Heinke Kunst trained as a specialist registrar in Respiratory medicine in the North Thames London rotation. She subsequently did an MSc and Diploma in Tropical Medicine at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In 2005 she was appointed as Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, where she was Tuberculosis (TB) Lead and an honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. Heinke joined QMUL in 2015 to develop a clinical research group in TB.

 

She is currently Reader in Respiratory Medicine at Barts and the London School of Medicine, QMUL and an Honorary Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Barts Health NHS Trust. She is the Research and Development Lead for respiratory medicine of the Clinical Academic Group at Barts Health. Her main research interest is in migrant health and translational research themes in TB and latent TB infection. She is Chief Investigator of the CATAPULT trial “Can latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) be treated effectively and safely in primary care?” which is a cluster trial comparing treatment of LTBI migrants in primary care vs secondary care.

 

She is leading the NTM service at Barts Health and manages predominantly patients with pulmonary NTM disease together with a NTM pharmacist and a NTM nurse.
