Prof Onn Min Kon

Onn Min Kon is a respiratory physician and Head of Service for the tuberculosis (TB) service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He is also lead for the Imperial Respiratory Infections Service for the Trust which cares for patients with the full spectrum of infections including non-tuberculous mycobacteria and fungi in a complex population with pre-existing structural lung disease and those who are immunosuppressed.

 

He runs the TB service at St Mary’s Hospital which is a tertiary centre for multi-drug resistant (MDR)-TB and ocular TB and a regional centre for endobronchial ultrasound. He is Chair of the London TB Clinical Leadership Group and Lead Clinician for the North West London TB sector.

 

He is the chair of the British Thoracic Society Specialist Advisory Committee and also the National MDR-TB Clinical Advice Service.

 

He is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Imperial College and has interests in respiratory infections and the clinical and immuno-diagnosis of TB, the delivery of care and management of TB.

 

Prof Kon organises and runs the London Advanced TB course on behalf of the Centre for Respiratory Infection and Public Health England. This is an annual intensive clinical TB course designed to update clinicians in all aspects of TB care.

 

He is also involved in studies evaluating the immunology and novel therapies in airway disease and is based at the Imperial Clinical Respiratory Research Unit at St Mary’s Hospital. He has close academic ties with Prof Sebastian Johnston, Prof Peter Openshaw and Prof Trevor Hansel at St Mary’s Hospital.

 

He has over 100 peer reviewed publications in TB and airway disease and is a regular lecturer for Imperial College London.
